What is the "Y" Factor?

It means different things to different people ranging from "Y bother?" to "Y it works" or if you want to be a smarty pants you could say that it represents a learning style characterised by Millennial learners or learners of "Generation Y" - the children of the digital revolution.

But whatever, it's a great opportunity to showcase the incredible skills being demonstrated by young people from all over the UK who are using the latest digital technologies to improve their learning either in the class or at home.

Such gear might include:

• inexpensive mobile computers
• social media
• smart phones
• mp3 and personal media players
• game consoles

But contestants are free to "innovate within the rules" because that's the key to the game.

How does it work?

Hosted by the irrepresible television presenter Jason Bradbury, the Learners Y Factor is one of the most popular sessions of the free to attend Sunday Service that is part of the LWF Festival of Learning & Technology - one of the the worlds largest festivals about learning and disruptive technologies. So popular is the Learners Y Factor that this year we are holding it in the main hall for an audience of up to 500 people - so invite your friends, teachers and families!

Contestants are individuals or teams of up to 4 presenters aged between 6 and 16 who will present their work to a panel of judges, a live audience.

All finalists get prizes with the winning team receiving an Interactive White Board from Promethean. So come on in and cheer on these amazing young people.

It's seriously inspiring!
