Learning with multi-user, collaborative surfaces and devices... What next for Whiteboards?
Session overview:
The latest advances in multi-touch and gestural interfaces are fundamentally transforming how we interact with computers and applications and provide a host of new ways to engage individuals and groups in engaging and immersive learning experiences.
In this session Promethean Product Managers and Educationalists will seek your feedback on Promethean’s latest ideas for new group learning tools and natural and intuitive user interfaces. With thanks to Newcastle University, Promethean will also share some of the latest academic research it has been involved with looking specifically into how children learn in groups with collaborative, interactive surfaces.
Tuesday 11th January
1:30pm - 2:15pm
Online Learning Communities, Formative Assessment and the CloudThis session is introduced by Tony Cann CBE, Promethean’s founder and Vice Chairman.
Tony is convinced that given the right tools, teachers can dramatically enhance the learning experience which in turn will increase the life chances of learners. This belief has led Tony to direct the Promethean focus towards the provision of collaborative classroom solutions that enrich the teaching and learning environment.
Tony is a Trustee of The Ruskin Foundation, member of the Strategy Board of the Institute of Effective Education at the University of York, and Trustee of the Bowland Charitable Trust. He has served as a Director of the University for Industry, a Governor of Nelson and Colne College, a member of the National Advisory Council for Education and Training Targets (NACETT), Chairman of the Finance and General Purposes Committee at Lancaster University, as the founding Chairman of the East Lancashire Training and Enterprise Council (ELTEC), and a founder member of the Further Education Funding Council (FEFC).
Tony was awarded the CBE for his work in education and training, and has received an Honorary Doctorate from Lancaster University.
Session overview:
Promethean Planet has been a great success for Promethean, building a global community of nearly a million teachers actively sharing their content and ideas. In this session, Promethean will showcase its latest web based service for schools and the wider learning community of parents and school managers, that spans online social learning with Web 2.0 tools and any time, any device assessment and reporting.
Within classrooms, on-demand, formative assessment that is used to dynamically to target interventions has the potential to transform instruction and deliver real time personalisation. The session will also look at Promethean’s advances in self-paced, adaptive assessment with devices and share the findings of research done by Maureen Haldane of Manchester Metropolitan University.
