The LWF Awards celebrate international innovators and innovations where mobile, video games, social media, open source & other disruptive technologies have been used to radically improve learning. The event has become an accurate barometer putting the spotlight on the real stars who are taking the lead with new approaches to learning. An awards event that's more about the people than the products.

The LWF Awards is part of the LWF Festival of Learning & Technology.

drinks reception by BrainPOPIt's a serious awards event that, unfettered by clumsy sponsorships, doesn't take itself too seriously. No dinner jackets, no boring speeches about products you've never heard of, no rubber chicken meal or eye-watering bar prices. Just a great informal party atmosphere ideal for socialising, networking and enjoying the company of fellow innovators. But don't let that stop you glamming it up in your best party gear!

Nominations for the awards were made by the public from which our esteemed judges  produced a short list of finalists that were voted on by the general public via SMS. The winners were announced at the Awards Party.

There are four categories plus a special award

  • Primary & Pre-School
  • Secondary
  • Further and Higher
  • Inclusion

Within each category there are two awards

Hero Innovator – An individual working in their respective category awarded for their achievement as demonstrated by innovative practice resulting in improved learning

Hero Innovation – An initiative, project or product that has had the most positive impact within category

The Special Achievement Award is for the person or organisation that has, in the opinion of the judges and community, made a significant contribution during 2010 to support improved learning using affordable, disruptive technologies such as mobile, gaming, social media or open source.
